Hurt can start to chisel all the self confidence. It chips away trust, love, happiness and self worth.
Someone who has caused hurt whether physically or emotionally can have such a long lasting affect in the victims life debilitating them for the joy of living.
Most dangerously the damage can occur during childhood. When a child/adolescent is learning how to trust and love and whatever is experienced during this time shapes who they will be in the future.
The damage creates an unforeseen future.
The pain is masked by anything that might bring the slightest satisfaction. This is when bad relationships can be formed because of trying to find fulfillment in others. The pain is masked by indulging in food, narcotics, addiction to buying things and etc.
All the temporary instant gratifications start to create a prison. Relationships that are damaging are formed. Addiction to food which leads to self esteem problems start. Drugs that bring the temporary numbness of reality start. Indulging in impulsive spending sets a trail for debt that can never be repaid. The list goes on!
You can ascend from the dirt of hurt! Jesus didn't come to measure how great and godly we are. He came to deliver a simple message. Anyone who believes that He is the Son of God and accepts Him to come into their life can have the dirt of life cleaned away. He can wipe away our hurt. He can transform our bitterness into joy. I encourage you today to not allow your past to shape your future. Rise up, grab hold of the hand of God. Time for change!
