This past weekend I was blessed enough to be able to participate in a Christian award show. I heard a message that really touched my heart and I wanted to share it with you.
It was speaking about when Peter sees Jesus walking on the water and he asks the following:
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
“Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Matthew 14:28-30
What do you think was the hardest step of faith? When he crossed his first leg out of the boat and yet was still hanging on with one leg on the inside of the boat, or was it when he had to cross his other leg out of the boat and completely let go and trust that he would not drown?
It's obvious that second step was the most difficult one to take. It is just like you and I, it is easy to make the initial decision to trust God but is becomes a huge step of faith to trust God when we have nothing else to hang on to and trust that He will hold on to us and not allow us to drown in our sea of problems.
Jesus never disappoints, often His answer to our prayers might come with delay but He always listens and He is always equipped to bless us according to His will.
Perhaps you are feeling weary and like Peter are in a boat in the midst of a sea of problems. Perhaps you are having difficulty letting go and placing your complete trust on God. I encourage you to let go and take the step of faith to trust Him and in Him you will find peace that surpasses all understanding. You will find hope and a new life!
