Don't allow you past to overcome your future!

Have you ever found yourself saying "i can't believe i sound like my mother/father!"
I know i have often said this myself.  I notice it more now  after having kids and as i grow older.
I think daily i must say to myself "O Lord i sound like my mother".
This isn't necessarily a bad thing, after all I've learned a lot of great things from my parents.  They have made me very proud to call them my parents.  They both have overcome so much and have turned such a turbulent past into a hopeful future.
I also think that the opposite could have occurred for me like in most people.  I often image that if my parents hadn't pursued seeking God in their lives how terrible my future could have been.
The most important lesson my parents taught me is that you don't need to remain in a place of suffering and there is something you can do about it to change the course your life has taken.
Just because you suffered in your past it does not mean that you need to continue a life of suffering.
In my country i hear many say that if they are suffering than it is their cross to bear.  That is such a lie that the devil has planted in people's minds.  You don't have to continue the way that you once were, especially if that was a tormented life.
you can strive to make a difference in yourself.  It first starts with determination to seek what God has planned for you.  Start by establishing a relationship with Him, you probably have been excluding God from your life (except when things go wrong and you wonder were He is at that time), but now is time to make a difference.  He is as close as to you talking to Him.  He can also be as far away as you place Him.
Change your negative thinking and always expecting the worst, make a determination to release yourself from hurt.  Don't allow hurt to linger in your mind for this will destroy you.
Leave your past exactly where it belongs, behind you.
