A good look in the mirror

Our daily routine consists of always taking a good look in the mirror.  No one wants to step out in public and have bed hair or even worst eye gunk, i know this has happened to me and all i can say is that it is so embarrassing when you realize you've been walking around looking terrible and didn't even realize it until much later.  To a certain extent some more than others worry about their outward appearance because the truth is we worry about how we may appear to others.
If we worry about looking in the mirror to make sure we look presentable to others we also need to take the same care to look into the spiritual mirror and reflect about how we must appear before God.
We need to be real with ourselves and really focus on what type of gunk we might be carrying in our life that might be unpleasing for God to look at.
I have deep respect for the friends that i have that are close to me, i admire them because they are real about who they are.  They are not afraid to admit their mistakes, to confront themselves on the changes they need to make.  They are not perfect but they are humble and sincere.
We live in a society that is driven by appearances, we feel the pressure to look good, to present a great life (even when that is far from the reality) and this causes many people to live in a facade.
To live a wholesome joyful life we need to let go of being artificial.  We need to take a good look in our spiritual mirror and see where we stand morally with God.  Let go of having a life driven by appearances and instead living a life to "pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness"  2Timothy 6:11.
I'm by no means saying that you shouldn't worry about your outwardly appearance, because if our body is the temple of the spirit of God we also need to make sure that it is well kept so we can maintain our health but don't make that all your priority because just as equally and more important is your spirit.  Who you are in secret in the depth of your mind is even more important than who you are before people.  Look at the depth of your mind and your true character and be real with yourself.  Make adjustments and changes to where you need to change so you can retrieve peace knowing that you are making every effort to be who God has called you to be and not a cheap copy of everyone else out in the world.
