Spoken words that hurt.

Slander
1. law
a.defamation in some transient form, as by spoken words, gestures, etc
b.a slanderous statement, etc
2. any false or defamatory words spoken about a person; calumny

Isn't this word what very often rises up against those that try to live a righteous life?  All sorts of lies rise up against you and all our flesh wants to do is defend ourselves.
Unfortunately even thou you might have the truth on your side when you choose to defend your righteousness you only become even more frustrated because the lies that rise up against you just become even bigger.  What would Jesus do in such circumstances?
Jesus would often stay away from conflict, and when approached by calumny He would use wisdom and the scriptures to questions the persons true intentions.
I felt in my heart to write about this because i often have experienced or seen someone that i care for suffer some sort of defamation.  When we experience going through any slanderous statements our blood boils and our anger tries to get the best of us however God teaches to allow justice to come from Him and to deal with such atrocities with peace.
I know that you are probably thinking "yeah right, that is easier said than done", I tell you it is a sacrifice.  It's a sacrifice of calming our anger and allowing God to deal with a situation.  It's about trusting that God is a God of justice and He will always defend those that try to live a peaceable righteous life. Quiet your mind and allow peace to settle in it so God's justice can flow in your life and know that those who quarrel against you can't possibly have the peace that you have.
"5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God" Romans 8:5-8
