I wanted to share a book that I recently just finished reading called “Heaven is for Real”. It is extremely encouraging, it gives a sense of the things that God does for us that we aren’t able to see or that at times aren’t even aware of.
Initially when I heard of this book I was skeptical. It is difficult to believe things that are unusual or that we have never experienced. However, as I began to read this book I found myself to have a lot in common with the father of this child. He is a Pastor and like many people that serve God we often find ourselves complaining to God when things don’t necessarily go our way. Actually complaining is an understatement the truth is when things don’t go our way and we feel that we have the self righteousness to confront God and our complaint sounds much like screaming. Where does this self righteousness come from? If you serve God you know exactly what I am about to say. Our sense of self righteousness comes from the simple fact that we sacrificed much to serve God and therefore we feel He has no right to lead us thru the path of pain.
The most intriguing part of this book is that when this Pastor began to yell at God because of the illness that his son was facing it was then instantly that God answered his prayer even thou he wasn’t seeing the results yet.
The book guides us through the downs of this man’s life and shows us how God supernaturally is always at work to fix the biggest messes in our lives even thou we aren’t seeing Him at work.
The most important message of this book is; God answers our prayers before we are even done praying. He is always faithful even when we are not.
I always felt weariness about what death must be like. I have the certainty in my heart of what direction I’m heading when God calls me but the actually thought of ceasing to exist was a bit alarming for me. However as I began to read this book I found such beauty in what God has prepared for us that it brought a sense of ease into my heart. I’m actually anxiously waiting for what God has prepared for me in heaven.
So to sum it up I went from thinking here is another crazy story of life after death and I found a book full of encouragement with a great sense of reality. Not everything is what it seems sometimes and I’m glad I had the opportunity to read this book and I hope that you do too. Be blessed!
