Anger, what a horrible feeling to have. It consumes all of our energy and torments our mind. In the past when I would allow my anger to boil up I would feel my heart racing and almost like something was wrapping its arms around me so tightly that I couldn’t even breathe. I even believe that it robs years out of our life span.
Why do we have to be such complex human beings with such intense feelings? I guess it’s not just us humans that feel these mix of emotions even God feels anger. There are many accounts in the Bible that speaks of this. The important thing to remember is not to allow anger to root itself so deeply in us that it is carried from one day to another.
The word of God says; “ Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.” Ephesians 4:25-27.
Don’t allow anger to control you to the point to sin. We need to have the ability to get upset but not to allow it to build up inside of us to the point of hatred. Don’t give the devil a foothold by holding on to bitterness from the past. Our anger does not affect the person who we are upset with as much as it affects us emotionally, physically and spiritually. It is time to let go! Not for the benefit of others but much more for our own well being.
Perhaps you feel anger towards your friend who broke your trust, or your spouse who just seems to purposely go out of his/her way to aggravate you, or your family member that has hurt you or the coworker that seems to delight in making your daily work life miserable. Well to all of these I tell you it is time to let go of anger and make it a point to find joy in your daily life. If you are harboring sadness inside of you because of something someone said or did than make it a point to speak truthfully to that person and give yourself a chance to break free from this anger. A lot of problems could be solved if we just spoke truthfully to others of what they might have done or said that hurt us.
I will never say that I won’t get upset or that I might not get hurt by someone else’s actions however I do say it is more important to let go of these feelings for my own good and peace of mind!
Be blessed!
