Greater things you will do!

So often I hear people say that Jesus was able to overcome all obstacles because He was the Son of God.  The reality is that He came in the form of a man so that He could prove to us that we can overcome all the obstacles that He was able to overcome and do even greater things than what He did, and this He promised us in His Word “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12

I begin writing tonight by saying that we can not only overcome all things thru our faith in God but that we can also do all things that we set our heart to.  I was reading about the time when Jesus was led to the desert for 40 days and during this time the Bible says that He was fasting.  The Bible says the following:

“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. ² For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry.

 ³ During that time the devil^[a] came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” Matthew 4:1-3

The Bible states that when he became hungry then the devil came and tempted Him.  The devil always comes and tries to oppress us during our weakest moments, especially when we are tired and overwhelmed.  It is important to notice that the devil spoke to Jesus in the same manner that he speaks in our minds.  Jesus was able to overcome with the Word of God, with God’s promises.  Just because Jesus passed the test this time doesn’t mean that the devil went away and gave up.  He never gives up he just waits for another opportunity of weakness to see if he can make those who believe in God doubt.  To have faith in God isn’t a guarantee that you will never be tired or overwhelmed but it is a guarantee that despite how you feel victory is always yours.

So stop saying to yourself that you can’t overcome your trials, YOU CAN.  Don’t live by what you see in front of you but by every promise that God has given to those who place their faith in Him.  Believe that those promises are for you, not because you are perfect but because you believe and have faith in Him.  Start to take control of your destiny, the destiny that God has for you.  Don’t allow the seed of doubt to be rooted in your life.  Notice that I said rooted, this means that doubt will come but you won’t allow that seed to take root inside of you. 

You can overcome!
