We can do it!

Imagine this, Jesus on a beautiful hill surrounded by tons of people.  Are you envisioning this?  Everybody is anxiously awaiting to hear what will come out of His mouth that can forever change the destiny of His hearers.  Their anxious and anxious and what does He say:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5:3-12

I imagine myself being there and hearing these words and all I can think is what???  Here we have tons of people that are tired of being humiliated, persecuted and suffering and Jesus is telling them you're blessed because you are poor in spirit in other words you are that person that feels you have no moral riches and  are in great need of God.

He continues to say blessed are you because you mourn, in other words you who are experiencing an overwhelmingly loss.
Those who are meek, quiet, gentle, easily imposed, submissive.
Those who have been wronged and thirst for righteousness.
Those who are merciful, in other words in order for you to show mercy you have to have been wronged or betrayed.
Pure in heart.  In today's age to keep your heart without hatred or anger despite all the great injustices that constantly surround us.
Peacemaker, we have more people putting in their two cents in order to cause strife than we have people that despite what wrong has been caused nevertheless try to bring good out of the situation.
Persecuted for righteousness, when you believe in doing what is right and yet people will rise up against you because it.
People who will say all kinds of lies to incriminate you because of your moral beliefs.

  1. God has never said that doing what is right will be easy but he made some awesome promises for those that practice all of these things.  Those rewards He promised are worth withstanding any trials and going beyond what our flesh wants to do sometimes and always searching to commit to do what we know is pleasing to God for He is our justice, strength and our redeemer.
