When you have lived a life full of heart ache and suffering it is difficult to change how you view life and yourself instantly. There are just too many layers of hurt that need to be shed.
When we give God a chance, that's right we need to give God that chance, He begins to shed each layer of hurt little by little. He quickly sheds one layer of pain and allows us to embrace our life without that additional layer of hurt, once that is accomplished He sheds another layer and so forth.
Every single time you place your hope on this amazing mighty God there is a layer of suffering that is being taken away from you and in it's place something new is being molded in you. Change begins to happen! You begin to reach some sort of spiritual maturity and understanding. God begins to open your eyes and you begin to see the world in a different way. You begin to see people differently. Compassion starts to grow in you and when you truly reach a great encounter with God you begin to feel the necessity to make right all the wrong decisions you have committed. You grow in righteousness and feel the weight that all the unrighteous decision you've committed needs to be corrected.
It is not sufficient to be amazed of how great God is by forgiving such sinners like us. All this is in vain unless we make our wrongs right. Especially when it is in our capability to correct our mistakes. Just like the tax collector that came before Jesus and was so grateful for the opportunity that Jesus was giving him that he wanted to quickly repay anyone that he had robbed.
This is what true repentance is when we don't want to waste time to repay those who we have wronged.
Let's shed the layers of hurt and start rebuilding with God's good grace a character that is worthy of being called of God!
