If you are a history geek like me, than you love to learn of how things came about. I get fascinated with history because our history dictated our future. Imagine this, the English translation of the Bible "King James Version" has been around for the last 400 years. It was the Bible first printed in the English language and made available to all men kind. Before this translation was authorized there were numerous attempts to have the Bible translated from the original Hebrew and Latin language. But translation was forbidden and it carried a penalty of death which many suffered. If the prominent men of this time had a Latin Bible it was considered a heresy to read it and especially to give it to a poor person.
Why the big fuss? Because even the wealthy, political and religious leaders of that time knew that anyone that would read the Word of God "Bible" would find freedom.
Being able to explore the contents of what is inside the Bible can set any captive free. It can set your mind free from the bondage that you have been suffering. It is in the magnificent word that you discover that God is a God of healing, prosperity, peace, joy and love. It carries the answers to life's most puzzling questions. There is no room or error of the interpretation, the only error that can be caused is by those who don't want to accept the truth that it contains and try to find some loop hole around the truth. This Word that now is so easily accessibly to us today should of never existed. It took 1,600 years after the death of Christ before people would be able to read it in their own language. Set the captives free! Isn't this what Jesus said He came to do? So that we not only live a good life but an abundant life! (JOHN 10:10)
Many have even tried to change the Bible so that it would conform with their life styles. In 1560 a team of Scots and Englishmen drew a translation that was purposely anti-royal. Obviously the kings of that time couldn't deal with that and had their own translation in 1568 that pro-royal in other words the queen and king are God on earth and couldn't possibly be found wrong of any sin. Seriously???
Thank God that finally a king with common sense came along years later and realized that we can't change the word of God to conform to what we want to hear but rather have it explained truthfully to bring hope and rebuke when needed.
Like the society in the late 1500's people now a days only want to pick and choose what is pleasing to hear from the Word of God but rather skip thru the rebuke and moral principles that God so meticulously wants us to have in order to live a wholesome life.
This past week i had the opportunity to go on vacation with my family to a few different parts of Pennsylvania. I went to my favorite part which is the country where the Amish live and was amazed at the simplicity of their life and how much peace they seemed to have. Away from the cares of technology they focus on the simplicity of life. Let me tell you they don't attend a local church but rather live a God fearing daily life. From the country we headed to the city to see the Independence Hall where our constitution was originated. I was amazed how i read through the beginning sentences of the constitution how it called out for freedom and to live life and give thanks to God for all that we have. I sensed the deep respect that those men most of had for God. Because of these principles our nation reaped many blessings, and lived abundantly for awhile. Now we are sowing seeds of rebellion, and trying to conform the Word of God to how we feel we should be living life instead of conforming our lives to this amazing Word. Because of this we are also too beginning to reap from those seeds except they are not abundant blessings but distress and worry. I pray that you truly find the peace you so desire which personally i was only able to find in God. I wasn't able to find it in friends, relationships or anything else that this world could offer but i found it in the simplest thing in the truth contained by the Word of God. May you start sowing this new year seeds of repentance so that you can harvest abundant joy and peace. May God's good grace always follow you!
