Be accountable!

I have been putting much thought into how God has laid out my life.  I look at the people that He placed in my life and I am amazed at the reasons why He placed them there.  There is one word that comes to mind as I was looking back at my last 18 years, ACCOUNTABILITY.
God wants us to be accountable for what we do, say and think.  He knows we can’t make right decisions or turn away from wrong choices by our own account so He places people in our lives that help us be accountable.  There’s that saying that “I can live life the way I want”, and this is very true but some of us use this to make wrong decisions in our lives thinking that we will never be held accountable for those decisions.  We will be held accountable for everything we do whether it’s right or wrong.
Some of us are blessed to have good solid friends in our lives that help us be accountable and make the right decisions.  God knows that sometimes we can’t make it alone and He provides for us the right people that help us, encourage us and sometimes even rebuke us.  Same thing in a marriage, we need to be accountable to our spouse since we no longer are living for ourselves but for each other as a couple.  Most people don’t like the pressure of having to be accountable to a spouse and this has lead many into divorce.  I’m not saying that all divorces happen because of this, sometimes there are circumstances beyond your control that lead to divorce.
Don’t forget that to do what you want comes with consequences.  Choose to do what you know is right to reap the reward for those choices.
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16
If you have friends in your life that agree with the wrong decisions you make then it’s time to clean house and get friends that won’t always agree with what we have to say and do but most importantly they help us make right choices.
The Bible is a love story between God and His creation and the desperate measures that God sometimes takes to help His creation turn away from what is wrong.  God has given us the free will to make our own choices and He asks us to be accountable for those choices so we can make the right decisions knowing that we will have consequences that will follow.
I’ve come to realize that I am no super woman and I certainly am not perfect, and God knew this and saw this and therefore He has given me people in my life that help me be accountable for my decisions.  I am grateful for these amazing people and couldn’t imagine life without them in it.  I hope you are blessed!
