Today i choose life!

Sometimes life can be so overwhelming that it seems that when one thing doesn’t go right it is suddenly accompanied by several things that go wrong.  Then that old saying comes to mind “when it rains it pours”.  Except it doesn’t just pour, it down pours.  At least that’s what if feels like when we are faced by a multiple uncomfortable situations in our lives.  I’ve started to realize that my worry will never amount to anything fruitful and it isn’t worth shedding our health on behalf of worry.
I was thinking this week that sometimes we can become so overwhelmed by the worries, troubles and our busy daily life that we feel like the olives in the olive press and our life is being squeezed.  Sometimes that pressing process feels like it is reducing us to nothing.   But it is when we feel like there is no strength left in us that God comes thru and shows us that no matter what the situation He is always in control and blessings are always certain to follow.
One bible passage came to my mind today as I was meditating on my overwhelming past few stressful days "See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. If you obey the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you today, by loving the LORD your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. 17But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you today, that you shall surely perish. You shall not live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to enter and possess. I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the LORD your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for He is your life and length of days…” Deuteronomy 30:15-20.
See God was warning the Israelites about the choices they had.  He basically told them if you obey Me I will bless you and give length to your days but if you don’t obey Me I will give you death.  So after thinking about this passage I started to think why worry when everything is in God’s control. He clearly promised to bless me if I obey Him, so regardless of what walls may be tumbling in front of me I shall not fear because I serve the almighty God who has everything under His power.  There are more wonderful and amazing promises if we obey God than the destruction that can accompany us if we choose to be rebellious to His commandments.  So today choose life so that you can live!
