She was selfless! This I noticed when I tried to encourage her about God's love and instead she encouraged me by stating she knew that God loved her and had brought countless people to show her kindness.
Here we have someone who chose to look at the blessings she did have instead of what she didnt't.
Too often we can become wrapped up on what we don't have or what very impossible situation we face. Often the light at the end of our tunnel is darkened by the circumstances that surround us.
A grateful and selfless heart is what God looks for. Not a heart that is never satisfied.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
"give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
A heart that is never satisfied will judge quickly, will never take responsibility for its actions, will always think of itself first and will pursue those that will only say what it's ears itch to hear.
This was not the case of the homeless woman I met of whom we can learn a soul saving lesson from. Many possess more than what the homeless woman ever did but their heart is so full of selfishness that the kingdom of God will never be at their reach.
Very thankful to have met Maggie for the short time we were blessed enough to be in her presence. We thought we were going to do something nice for her and in turn she changed our life...as sick and weak as she was her faith was stronger than anyone's we've ever met and she was at peace in God's hands almost as if she didn't feel homeless just blessed. Walked away not knowing if she was real, if that all happened...felt as if we met an angel sent to us from God and now I know that we did. Her 5 minutes of conversation will last a lifetime within my heart. I thank God for letting us meet his angel Maggie and I thank Maggie for being the incredible "selfless" woman she was to us that day. Knowing He brought her home makes me happy as I know she knew and trusted God more than some of us might have if we were in her situation. Lots of love to you Maggie and to our Heavenly Father for allowing us to experience such a blessing.
