Every time I read anything in the Bible about women it makes me think of the power that women have to do amazing things and also to destroy everything.
So let’s start with the negative. When the serpent wanted God’s most wonderful creation to disobey Him, he didn’t try to persuade Adam because he knew that it would take the talk of a woman to fool Adam into being disobedient to God’s word (Genesis 3). In the same manner women nowadays possess the power of persuasion to deceive their husbands and family into being in full disobedience to God’s word. Sometimes it’s not even intentional but the power of words can bring forth much damage. For instance I grew up as a child hearing my next door neighbor constantly curse her sons by calling them fools. Unfortunately for this woman she now is bearing the weight of having to watch her grown sons make bad decisions that have brought much suffering into her life. If only she could take back those words! But she cannot!!!
Words have power to bless and to curse. So next time that you are calling someone stupid or any other word think about what kind of seed you are planting. Don’t allow yourself to plant a seed that will bring a painful harvest. Be careful what you especially call your children.
The same way a word can plant a seed of suffering it can also plant a seed of life and happiness. Start using your mouth to plant good things in the lives of your children and spouses. Don’t call them what sometimes in your anger you feel but bless them. You will soon start to see that you will reap much happiness from this small sacrifice.
So we started in the beginning speaking about the power of a woman to destroy but now I want to speak about the power that we possess to bless. Think about who went to the tomb of Jesus shortly after He died. It wasn’t His disciples (they were probably too scared to even get out of their homes afraid that the same fate would come to them like Jesus) it was the women that served Jesus during His ministry. They didn’t weigh any danger that might come upon them but speedily went to the tomb to care for Jesus (Matthew 28).
I believe as a mom and a wife that I would not weigh any sacrifice that I would have to do to make sure that my family is blessed and happy. We need to take the responsibility that God has given us as mothers and wives and fight for the happiness of our family. Use the resources that God gave you; start speaking positive things into the lives of your family. Don’t speak about the negative things you see but start blessing your family by speaking about what you want to see happen in their lives. Start fasting, don’t be lazy, read Matthew 17:21 to better understand why you need to fast for your family. I speak to you from experience because I wasted much time complaining and trying to change things and people in my life by complaining and never got anywhere by doing it. I only started to see the results I wanted to see by speaking blessings unto my family and fasting for them. It works, give it a try and be blessed!
