I was thinking this morning how we can be loved by our family and friends and still feel empty and alone. At least this is how I felt eighteen years ago. I had love but there was still something missing. I remember the greatest discovery that forever changed my life which was the day I found out that God truly loved me. I used to think that I had to earn the right for God to love me but didn’t know that He loves us unconditionally despite our many sins.
God pursuits us! He runs after us constantly giving us the opportunity to have a relationship with Him. He loves us unconditionally. Once you find this out, and know that His love doesn’t come with any strings attached, it changes you forever.
When my children do something that is wrong, I can instantly correct them but it never makes me love them any less. This is how God feels about us, He can correct us when we sin but He does not love us any less. He fights for us the same way we fight for the happiness of our children.
Know today that you are loved and cherished and take hold of the great opportunity that God is giving you without hesitation. People might disappoint us, actually we might even disappoint ourselves but Jesus will never abandon us or forsake us. We are so cherished that over two thousand years ago He gave His life in exchange for ours so that anyone that believes and accepts His sacrifice doesn’t perish and earns the right to have eternal life (John 3:16).
The next thing I want you to know is what God so many times speaks about in the Bible. Anytime He had a great plan for someone the first thing He would say to that person is DO NOT FEAR. Isn’t this what He told Joshua after Moses died and He was left with the responsibility to lead a nation of people? (Joshua 1) He wasn’t telling Joshua that He wasn’t going to feel fear, He was telling Him that despite being afraid of His responsibility and the decisions that He was potentially going to make don’t draw back. Keep on persevering in your relationship with God and don’t draw back. Even if that relationship might carry some difficult decisions don’t fear those decisions because they come with great recompenses.
